Mr David Czitter comes from an unique family background, according to The Sydney Morning Herald (Wednesday 4 December, 1946) and documentation and physical evidence at The Sydney Jewish Museum. Mr David Czitter's Grandfather 'Mr Paul Czitter', who arrived in Australia in 1946 on the ship ‘Ville d'Amiens,' and survived Bergen-Belsen Concentration Camp, was one of only 6 remaining Jewish members from the ‘Czitter Family’ of 128 members. The other 122 members of the 'Czitter Family,' were tortured and murdered by the Nazis, during World War Two, for being Jewish. This genocide of the 'Czitter Family' occurred in Buchenwald, Bergen-Belsen and Auschwitz Concentration Camps, after their home town became part of the Russo-German battlefield. Mr David Czitter's Great Grandfather, named 'Mr Zoltan Czitter,' (who was one of 8 brothers), was murdered by the Nazis, along with all 8 brothers and their entire extended family. His Great Grandmother, named 'Mrs Alice Czitter,' survived. David Czitter's Grandparents were named 'Mr Paul Czitter' and 'Mrs Catarina Czitter.' According to video evidence, from The USC Shoah Foundation, Mr David Czitter's Grandmother, 'Ms Catarina Biro' (ne Czitter), managed to escape Auschwitz Concentration Camp, after witnessing both her mother and sister, being murdered by the Nazis for being Jewish.
